From their Myspace page: The Fumes (previously known as The Stir) formed in Beauly, Inverness-shire, in 2002, originally as a cover band. Over the first year the line-up changed a few times, but once we found our line-up we decided to start writing and The Stir sound was born. We still play covers to pay for equipment, studio time, etc and obviously for the buzz of regular gigs. Although nothing beats the buzz of getting a crowd going with your own material. Therefore, thats our current mission, to get our music out there. Its very hard to categorise our sound as we all have very different influences. There's a bit of punk, pop rock, Electro pop and soul all rolled in together.
