What's Inverness Like?

Inverness is a very small city with lots of pubs and a few clubs. Most of these are in the city centre, within walking distance of each other. There are a couple of slightly rough areas, but nothing too bad. Due to cheap flights to Inverness Airport from London, Belfast, Bristol and Leeds amongst others the city has become a fairly popular centre for travelling stag and hen parties.

Will I get Stabbed?

Inverness is pretty small and has the best crime record of Scotland's cities. There are a few neds around, but if you're reasonable careful and don't venture down to the Ferry, you're likely to be able to make it home without ending up in Casualty.

Where Can I Stay?

If you think this site is going to provide you with a list of star rated B&Bs, Guesthouses and Hotels then you're going to be sadly disappointed - at least until we sell out and retire to the Bahamas. Google 'Inverness B&B' and you'll find thousands. [Note: of course, if you'd like to pay us lots of money to advertise on this site, then maybe we'll do a rethink!]

What's this about Smoking?

If you're visiting from elsewhere in the UK you'll be familiar with this, but if from elsewhere it might come as a bit of a shock - you can't smoke in any pubs or restaurants in Inverness! This was made law by the Scottish Executive in 2006 to improve public health. In effect, it means if you smoke you'll have to join all your other bad-breathed, cancer-ridden mates outside the pub door every time the urge gets too strong to bear. Oh, and also you'll be surprised to notice just how much body odor is generated in a pub full of nicotine-free air!
