Arguably the most traditional pub in town, The Phoenix has 2 bars: the good 'ol fashioned public bar, and the restaurant (Flames) which serves as a music venue on Friday and Saturday nights. Has traditional real ales on tap.
Like Deenos, which is next door, this place gets busy with football fans on ICT (scum) home match days, especially when the old firm & Aberdeen come to town. Would recommend it over Deenos next door which gets a little too packed and sometimes has a dangerous atmosphere.

Attended a charity race night last night, what a scream!!! It looked like everone there had an excellent time and a really good laugh. Racing being wired through a projector and on to what looks like the biggest screen I have seen in Inverness with the exception of the cinema. clean place with fantastic service. Racing was followed by a rock night which happens every week. I know where I'll be every Friday night now. Best pub in town by a mile!
£5.95 for a huge all day breakfast with toast on top - aptly described as the 'pigs breakfast'. In mind of my increasing waistline however I shall limit my visits.. but this must surely be one of... if not the baqst value breakfast in town at the moment... unless you know otherwise? ;)
The quiz is growing by the week and certainly brings out the characters. Watching them is almost as entertaining as the quiz itself. Very bright inside at times but clean and enjoyable. Other pubs might want to adopt similar methods as every pub at the moment seems to be fighting for what little customers they can get.
THIS PUB IS PROBALLY THE ONLY PUB IN INVERNESS WHERE YOU DONT GET ANY TWATS,NICE FRIENDLY STAFF,NEW OWNERS ARE AIMING TO PLEASE,HAVE ENJOYED NUMEROUS NIGHTS OUT HERE IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND HAD AN ALSOLUTE BLAST,THEY HAVE SOME CRACKING LOCAL BANDS PLAYING LIVE FRIDAYS N SATURDAYS,SERVE A CRACKING ALE AND THERE IS A FAIR SELECTION TO ENJOY BUT BE CAREFUL THEY HIT YOU LIKE A TON OF BRICKS,MY FRIEND HAD IS 40TH THERE 3 WEEKS AGO IN FLAMES IT WAS A CRACKING BUFFET N QUICK SERVICE WE ALL HAD A GREAT NIGHT THE BAND THAT CAME ON WERE SHIT HOT,THIS IS A GREAT SUPERB PLACE TO GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pub has now changed hands, new guy called Ricki apparently. Was in for an off scene pint on the Monday night and took part in what I found out to be their first pub quiz night. Great laugh although I'm sure numbers will grow in future weeks. The guy who runs it's not really called 'Craig Dunain' is he? Food good, and nice to find a str8 forward public bar ont he other side that still serves traditional pies. Place looked clean and service was good, tho the gents toilet links thru to the other bar and had the doors wedged wide open so anyone fro the public bar could see right in and thru to the line of urinals. Gents could do with an overhall and a clean up, but the lounge/restaurant side is starting to take shape with the new people. Friendly staff and customers. Definitely on the list to go in again. Good luck in your new venture pub people!
This pub can only get better once Publicana move out. The manager who has run it for them since last May has done her best but its clear that her hands have been tied by this awful company and the silly little stocktaker who likes to think he's an area manager. GOOD RIDANCE! Its Deenos next door they're moving to next though so watch that one go down fast.
Yet another town centre bar closed.
Is it just my imagination or were the boy
with the large hooter and his tubby brother
who used to drink in the citadel (before it closed its doors) not frequenting the phoenix
(before it closed its doors) I think I can see a pattern forming here.
So if you have a simple looking chap with a big nose and his tubby brother drinking in your bar!!! Bar them before you have to close your doors. No matter how much they spend.
Once again on Saturday the Phoenix was a fine place to watch the Scotland game. Big screen up in the lounge bar and no neds of any description.
A decent, non wanky place to watch football. Thumbs up.
s ,hole.
Their football team are a bunch o fuds.
But when the Dons are in town its jumping
ONLY SOBER PEOPLE FEEL THE COLD.
DRINK....
DRINK....
AND DRINK AGAIN.....
NO POSING....
HARDEST SMOKING PUBLICAN IN INVERNESS.
FOOLS NOT WELCOME.
SERIOUS BOOZERS WELCOME.
The Phoenix once served the finest Guinness in town but too many gnarly old codgers hog the bar. Miserable gits.
Turn the heating on!
