Regarded by many as one of the gems of Inverness. Upstairs in The Market Bar will always seem busy as its so damned small. Be warned when there's a live band playing it is quite difficult not to spill your pint over the drum kit.
Live music pretty much every night of the week along with a hot and sweaty atmosphere at the weekends. There's also an ok jukebox.
Downstairs is somewhere I've never been.

Great place to go chill out and get the craic!
Rough & ready and full of characters, a proper old style boozer - wouldn't suggest taking anyone here on a first date
cant say anything bad about this place.
i was brought into this place by a friend about 6 years back not regretted it since.
best craic in town
what a place
LONG LIVE THE MARKET!! Love this place so much as every time U walk up those stairs, you never know whats gonna be goin on. Every other pub in Inverness is so predictable. You know whos gonna be there, wot they'll be wearing, what they'll be drinking and who they'll be bitching about. For those of you that havn't been, TRY IT!!! Fun place where anything goes!
been drinking downstairs for several years now, yea some folk u spk to think its a dive and full of ne`er do wells but thats shite.most friendly bar i been in, bit rough on the outside but scratch the surface and what a wealth of humanity in all shapes and forms. poorest pensioner to well off professionals who like "spit n sawdust" all walks of life (some living on certain regulars granted!!) but generally fine. upstairs lot all laid back young n old alike and again all colours of the rainbow (some literally) one moan though - upstairs drinkers please TAKE YER F***IN EMPTY GLASSES BACK UPSTAIRS AND JUST ONCE IN A WHILE TAKE SOME OF THE SUPPLIES OF DRINK FROM THE CELLAR UPSTAIRS YERSELFS INSTEAD OF THE `DOONIES` DOIN IT FOR U. rant over ;-)
p.s upstairs are gonna be gettin humped in the next quiz.
I was attacked by a massive regular out in the lane, the only way I could get away was by grabbing him by the balls. Not great times.
This bar has ALWAYS been entertaining.
Sure, there's young 'uns hiding by the duke box, but why not? How else are they to learn responsible drinking?
Even the crap music acts can enjoy good banter with the punters crammed around.
I was chatted up by a doll here, I thought it was my lucky day till she asked me if I'd 'heard the word of Jesus'! Crikey!
This pub is fun for people-watching.
In the downstairs bar you could pull a granny for the price of a can of Special Brew.
went into the downstairs bar, didnt think much of it and once i saw a pair of drunks who were about 70+ pulling each other i realised it was time to leave
ONCE WE WERE UNDERAGE.
KIDS HAVE TO LEARN RESPONSIBLE DRINKING.
ONLY EVER KNEW IRRESPONSIBLE DRINKING IN THE MARKET.
GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE PROCLAIMERS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE FRASERS.(DONNIE+KENNY).
The market used to be a good place to go and relax but now it's full of underage kids. Go on a friday night or a saturday night and you are less likely to see the underagers in. Great pub though
Always found it a tad annoying here. Too small. Awfully self satisfied clientele.
full of goths and kids!
Unless it's the downstairs bar. There you must firstly undergo the initiation!!
Hey, don't knock it!
Had my first pint there, and I don't think it's changed a bit!
Still the same bar it was, and if you go there more than once or twice, you'll know tha majority of folks...
It seems to be full of 6th years who have 'jamming sessions' in there rich mates garage and wish they were on the 3 foot stage. Also, since the smoking ban there seems to be more people in the alley than in the pub.
I have to say I've found this place to be full of some quite unfriendly and smug regulars.
And why does bloody Billy Morrison have to play here every night?
