Nice place to have an afternoon pint and a chat dont get me wrong but its just not that nice at night time can be a horrible tense atmosphere about the place.
Can be a bit `neddy` at times but generally fine. Manager and staff very friendly, good mixed crowd. Pints of MacEwans thru week - much cheapness at £1.85 a pint. always handy the week b4 payday lol
Expensive if you drink whisky and it is not very clean
The staff were okay, wouldn't like to go there with a partner.
I ventured into the City Bar more through curiosity than anything else. Got to say I was a bit aprehensive about what I viewed as 'neds and chav types' hanging around the front door with their cigarettes, but never one to judge I did go in.. It was a Sunday night and the DJ apparently was Joe Foy. Got to say it appeared very much a locals place - at theast the bar staff knew everyone. The service was fast and yep the music when it came on was loud. I have rarely been in a place with such down to earth people though, and one young guy clad in his football top even put up with my banter re his team with good spirits. Not one bit of trouble, no aggression, just real people. The DJ when prompted by suggestions as to other tracks lined them up and fitted them in. All in all, a great night, and just goes to prove a point that if you look past the initial faced of some of Inverness's pubs then occasionally you find a good one. Haven't tried their advertised food menu yet, but I'll definitely be back
Dropped in for a quick quite pint on way home (5.30pm on a Friday). Drink was cheap at £1.85 for Smiths. Music so loud you couldn't hear yourself, and it was dance rubbish, barmaid busy scoffing a McDonalds and what clientele were there seemed to have been tehre for hours (i.e a few on the tables!!).One to avoid me thinks
