Clune Farm, Dores,
Inverness, IV2 6TT
Rockness is a large music festival based on the shores of Loch Ness by the village of Dores. The location makes it one of the most stunning backdrops to a festival you could ask for.
It has been running now since 2006 when Fat Boy Slim wanted to start a mini-festival somewhere unique. Since then it has grown to one of the bigger festivals in Scotland and has seen acts like Daft Punk, The Flaming Lips, The Prodigy, Orbital and CSS.
In 2010 it ran Friday 11th - Sunday 13th July. 2010's headliners at Rockness were Fatboy Slim, Pendulum and Friendly Fires on the Friday, Leftfield, Ian Brown and Aphex Twin on Saturday. Finally, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, Doves and Blondie on the more indie flavoured Sunday night. As an aside, it usually has a much higher standard of toilet than you'll find at most UK festivals!
A great thing for the Highlands.
For folk looking for another festival in the Highlands, you should check out Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, it runs in August and is brilliant.

Looking forward to seeing Friendly Fires on Friday night!
I don't like dance but I do like the look of that Sunday lineup.
I agree with the above, great location and good bogs! It isn't very well named though, considering it's much more a dance music event than rock (although the Sunday lineup this year will maybe see the festival live up to it's title).
