Currently closed. Cactus Jak's has had it's licence to serve alcohol revoked until October 2010, following several breaches of it's premises licence.
Attached to Bakoo this bar is open later than a lot of the other pubs in town. It plays a mix of cheesy pop/indie (Razorlight, Killers are seen as edgy to these punters) most of the time but becomes more mainstream dance later on a friday or saturday night.
The customers are a pretty strange mix of desperate old men and neds (a lot of neds). What they've both come to stare at are the nervous (and highly un-classy, how old are they??) girls who are paid to dance on the bar. Most of them look like they're either early school leavers or making some money on the side for their hairdressing/makeup course at Inverness College.
For the most part it just made me feel uncomfortable. Obviously this place cause a lot of controversy as the first Inverness bar to to have dancers and this is still the main reason it is packed out so much. Cactus Jak's also has a bizarre "jail" section at the back which I never ventured in to.

I admit that it's grimey and pretty gritty but this place knows what it is and does the job briliantly! If your wanting cheesy tunes and a great laugh with friends making a drunken fool of yourself, then this is the place for you. Pretty well priced compared to other places and the door policy is relaxed. Its unfussy and unashamadly naff!

Ohh dear, not very pleasant at all.
It's a cattle market with a very unfussy door policy. Does the job when ur steamboats for extended drinking if you don't fancy the jigging. However Coyote Ugly it ain't!!!
Scantily clad ladies dancing on the bar. Pervs putting their camerafones on top of bar facing upwards for a bit of "upskirt". Hmmmm, it's all a bit controversial for me. Good bar to stop off in on the way to somewhere else.
cactus jaks has to be inverness's biggest and best party spot in town with great tunes and great live entertainment from the dancers down to bar staff the atmosphere is amazing. But it seems that the average age off people actually there is 15/16 getting blazing. And no one caring
Now this place really showed Inverness what a party bar should be. Great atmosphere and a real yeahah night. But just needs polishing a bit as far as who gets let in. Definately worth a try, you will love it or hate it, but don't decide until you've tried it.

cant complain had some great nites here even met my fiance in the place always fun taking mates in for first time watching them stare at the dancers

totally shite. went for the first time. full of little sluts wearing fanny pelmets. ugly people supposed to b dancers on the bar in cactus. fire alarm going off, got thrown out, bouncers r assholes chucking every1 around. if u want somewhere gd. go to motion.
was here last nite after scotland game and i had forgotton how bad it actually is!
average age of customers was about 16. full of neds as well

Visited on Friday night and was concerned to see the lack of security around the bar!! There are 3 (young)girls dancing there and 1 grab from a punter and 1 could be down!! 3 Security Men all standing on the stairs beside eachother!! should they not be spread around the establishment? I would have thought security men on the door in uniform and incognito guys inside would work better!

Ended up going here on Saturday when the girls said they wanted to dance. Regretted it deeply; awful music and got hassled by an idiot bouncer who didn't speak a word of English!
