Blackfriars

Traditional pub at the bottom of Academy Street, Blackfriars has music on most Friday and Saturday nights although it's mostly overly loud blues rock.

With a real mix of customer ages, it's one of the Inverness pubs where over 30s don't have to feel out of place.

Attracts a lot of backpackers during the summer for ceilidh nights, leading to some of the local youths venturing in in the hope of 'pulling a toorist girl'.

what a disappointment, expensive & not very good pints, no atmosphere & a very full of himself bar man

It appears that if a pub is taken over in this area of town it instantly becomes a disaster. First Lafferties (Dinos) turns crap and now this place follows suit. Is there a gypsy curse on Academy Street? There certainly appears to be something going on - A Church lead conspiracy i bet.

3 customers early(8-9PM) on a night when the Ironworks was packed. Doesn't bode well for the new owners.

I'm out of town now, but I used to love Blackfriars...one of the few places where you could get good real ales (and they knew how to take care of them too), and the staff were really nice too. If the staff have been fired, and if the ale is off, then I won't bother going back...:-(
