18 Tomnahurich Street,
Inverness, IV3 5DD
Finlays Bar can be found just over the bridge on Tomnahurich Street next to Tesco.
This pub has been in existence as Finlays since 1978 barring a year or two re-branded as Ceol-Mor when some folk had the noble but slightly misguided idea to turn it into a music venue in the Hootananny's mould. It seems a mixture of the curfew and location on the wrong side of the river hurt that idea. The Ceol-Mor name may appear at a different venue, we understand.
Now it's Finlays again. A more traditional 'regulars' bar. Shows lots of football on Sky and ESPN and serves food.
Didn't this used to be...?

I have visited this bar on a number of occassions- sometimes with friends, other times just myself and I love it! I'm always made to feel welcome and they have a good selection of drinks. Will return!
Big improvement at Finlays. Was a place you would never go to however now a good venue to watch sport, and have a drink after work. Management & staff very good and make you feel welcome.
Had a great night, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The manager arranged some free sandwiches and the banter was excellent.
I was in here over Xmas and new year had the best time. Staff were great and very helpfull
Visited this pub over the christmas New year period and would reccommend it to anyone ..great staff , and great atmosphere...hope to vivit agaiin next time im in Inverness x
Great staff, great atmosphere and always had so much fun everytime i've been. Love it!
Fair play, and in all seriousness a really great all round pub with great beer - Thank you "Mister Irish Guy" who now owns the place!
You can tell that the place is under new ownership/management because you don't need to wipe your feet on the way out anymore!
Not trying to do anything special with the place, but a great effort with live sports, re-furbished darts area, new pool table and SHOCK, HORROR! REALLY FRIENDLY STAFF!
Well worth a pint or two and now that the food is back on the go again, (I had the burger, the mrs had the cullen skink), we'll definately return.
TOP JOB!
It's beginning to get it together as a live music venue but, what really needs to happen is for punters to walk the extra 100 yards past Johnny Foxes and go there for a great night out when there's a decent band on.
What kills places like this is the stupid 12 o'clock curfew meaning people rush away to JFs or Hoots which have late bars until 3am.
I like the fact that the bar is L shaped so, if the live band is a bit louder than you can handle, you can hide round the corner and avoid the full on sound from the PA.
I live very local to the Ceol-Mor and never set foot in it when it was Findlays. I now come in for sports and the most. You can avoid the smelly locals by simply going round to the other side of the bar, it's a big pub!
Great place.
Went in for a few drinks, the staff were very friendly,
would drink here again as I was made welcome
Being a regular face at Ceol Mor I have to say I am never disappointed. The staff are always very friendly, the food is great and all the live bands are fabulous!
On Saturday night there were four bands on so something for everyone, especially if you fancied a good boogie! The Leonard Jones Potential were rocking the joint!
Definitely worth popping in if you haven't already.
Saturday night was an absolute cracker - best night out in ages! Music, atmosphere and company all couldn't be faulted.......I wasnt going to rate a 10/10 just as a matter of principle....but decided it would be a travesty if i didnt - hence Ceol-Mor gets full marks!
Carry on the great work lads.......
Just had a weekend up to Inverness and visited the Ceol Mor on saturday, and boy what a cracker of a night! LJP were playing and its honestly one of the best gigs i've ever heard/seen. Terrific atmosphere and staff were just so friendly -i'm definately going back there at the first opportunity!
Bar staff make the pub, even the females, good on the lot of you.
Ok, I'm biased... It's actually my pub (well about 87% of it is), but I rated us an 8/10 and I genuinely would rate it like that if I was independent and had just gone along.
Really think we put effort into getting good live acts and plenty of entertainment.
Watch this space, there's more to come.
No problem if moderators want to remove my 8/10 rating, I'm fine with that, totally understandable.
Having said that I'm probably not the only person who's ever rated their own pub...... just possibly the first one stupid enough to admit it.
Best place I've been so far. Just read the last comment and don't really understand the bit about the staff. They all seemed pretty decent to me. Saw a band called "The electric band" or something, they were brilliant, wouldn't have grudged paying to see them at the Ironworks let alone free in a pub. Was never in the place when it was Finlays, but from what i hear it was dire, and it's a big improvement now, but can't comment.
Used to like Finlays as was a great gathering place at the weekends. Seems new owners trying to hard to please locals! Ceol-Mor is Gaelic for Big Music - not much big music there (Dead Grateful are a great band tho!) On last visit to bar there seemed to be more alcohol being consumed behind the bar than over the bar!
good wee place and not far from doorstep.
good to see some change over the river, and by looks of it some new bands coming up aswell.
need more good bottled ales :)
Leonard Jones Potential were brilliant there. Pretty decent place.
There's still a pool table there though, which is no bad thing.
Been a few times and always been good at a weekend.
Worth a look and maybe a few looks back.
Cracking night out - dunno about the removed pool tables - if you want a game theres a pool table there along with 2 dart boards and a brilliant digital jukebox. Live music most weekends - so far Leonard Jones Potential, Sara Bills, James McKenzie, Dead Grateful, Dave Fleming among others with upcoming gigs from Mystic Shoes, Gerry Jablonski and 28 Jacks !! Not a bad wee gaff and definitely worth more than No 43 in the 'chart' !!
